Ozery's Pita Break Celebrates 15 Years

In 1996, a small sandwich shop was opened on the corner of Yonge and Wellesley St. in downtown Toronto. Father and sons began serving sandwiches to the downtown crowd. Thus, Pita Break was born.

Every pita for the sandwiches was baked fresh daily in the back of the restaurant. The Ozerys used their grandmother's recipe which includes only wholesome, all natural ingredients.

Fast forward 15 years, and that small sandwich shop is now a commercial bakery, and Ozery's Pita Break is now a household brand. With distribution across Canada and the United States, the company still remains family-owned and dedicated to serving wholesome, all natural products.

In October, Ozery's Pita Break will officially celebrate 15 years of business. Until then, we will be giving back to you, our customer, as a way of thanking you for your support. Welcome to our very first e-newsletter! Since we first founded Pita Break 15 years ago, one of our primary goals has been to maintain a close, personal relationship with you. Here, we will let you know about new products, specials, and all other exciting news going on at The Bakery!

@TheBakery: We've outgrown our little bakery in Toronto, and are moving to a slightly bigger location in the GTA. Our ovens are folded nicely, mixers boxed neatly, and employees are stuffing their pockets with flour to help with the move.  We'll be sure to send you a postcard of the new place once all the dust (and flour) has settled.  

Sneak Peek: The new bakery seems to have sparked some excitement amongst Alon and Guy Ozery, as they can often be seen huddled in a corner of The Bakery covered in flour. "We're working on a great new snack product," says Alon. "I'm not going to tell you exactly what it is, but I will say that it's highly addictive -- consider yourself warned!" adds Guy.  

Speedy Guy-zalez: We're pleased to report that Guy recently took part in The Ride to Conquer Cancer, a fantastic bike ride to raise money for The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret. After raising over a whopping $7,500, Guy biked for two days from Toronto to Niagara Falls. How did he do it? "Believe it or not, pitas make me more aerodynamic," said Guy.

2011 LIVERight^TM Awards Winner!

Ozery's Pita Break has recently been recognized by the Canadian Liver Foundation's 2011 LIVERight^TM Awards, honouring the Just Minis Multigrain in the category of Best Family-Friendly Item. The Just Minis Multigrain was distinguished alongside 10 other packaged and prepared convenience food products as being both healthy and tasty.

"We are truly honoured to be recognized by the Canadian Liver Foundation for the third year now," says co-founder Alon Ozery, the creative force behind Ozery's Pita Break.

"We're thrilled to be a part of the LIVERight^TM Awards, a great event that raises awareness of liver disease," added company president Guy Ozery.

Recognized this year, Just Minis are baked with all natural goodness and are free of artificial preservatives. The product is available in Multigrain, Muesli and Apple Cinnamon. At 14 pitas per 360g package, the Just Minis have 0g Trans Fat and are an excellent source of iron.

In 2010, Ozery's Pita Break's OneBun Multi Grain Sandwich was chosen as the Best Lunchbox Item and the OneBun Multi Grain 100 Calorie as Best Snack for the LIVERight^TM Awards competition. Ozery's Pita Break was also a three-time winner in the 2009 LIVERight^TM Awards.

First started in 2008, the annual LIVERight Awards^TM has two primary goals: firstly, to help raise awareness of fatty liver disease, currently the most common type of liver disease in people living in North America. The second goal is to identify practical solutions for those looking for healthy options that fit into their time-crunched schedules.
